Feminist Climate Justice

DadaPower’s manifesto is grounded in People and Planet first principles. Women and girls bear the brunt of the climate crisis, making their voices paramount in  day to day climate conversations. This essence of our feminist climate justice work centers on raising awareness about the climate crisis, which is a lived reality for many  and supporting girls and women-led climate action. We create action spaces where communities develop climate solutions while acknowledging the central role of indigenous knowledge, food sovereignty and justice in climate action. We dream, live and innovate ecofeminism.

Feminani

Feminani is a movement building initiative borrowed from the words ‘feminism’ and ‘mashinani’ – swahili word for grassroots. It engages girls and young womxn by centering their realities, needs, contributions and aspirations to forge sustainable lives that reflect reproductive justice, workplace preparedness, career development and women’s leadership.

Feminani aims to foster a network of feminists and young womxn in Murang’a county, with the long-term goal of a feminist climate justice movement in the county. Murang’a county. The programme targets young women in rural areas in Murang’a county, who are mostly left out in mainstream discourses on gender equality and equity, engagement in governance processes and self-advancement opportunities such as jobs and career development guidance.

Vijana Dialogues

Our young women-led community dialogues aim to amplify the needs and driving factors of young women’s development, linking them to governance processes and decision makers for evidence-based resource allocation and accountability. By openly discussing public interest subjects with citizens, duty bearers, special interest groups, faith-based organizations and business actors, young women are at the forefront of leading the desired change towards gender-responsive governance evidenced by the eradication of teenage pregnancies, zero GBV cases and equitable access to public and essential services.
